Opersis > What we offer > Architects

Opersis has taken on complex assignments for emblematic buildings from world-renowned architects, respecting the design of each architect and contributing structural and aesthetic solutions.

Richard Rogers | Florence, Italy, 1933 – 2021

He was born in Italy, but later obtained his British nationality. He attended the Architectural Association School of Architecture in London and, in 1962, graduated from Yale. That is where he met Norman Foster, with whom he partnered up to launch Team 4 with their respective wives. The group split up in 1967, and Rogers then joined forces with Italian architect Renzo Piano.

He served as chair of the Greater London Authority and was a political advocate for the British Labour Party. In 1991, he was knighted, and in 1997, he became a member of the House of Lords.
He was awarded the prestigious Pritzker Prize in 2007. He also received other recognitions like the RIBA Royal Gold Medal in 1985, the Thomas Jefferson Medal in 1999, and the Praemium Imperiale in 2000.

Among many other things, he designed the Centre Georges Pompidou in Paris with Renzo Piano. And he designed terminal 4 of the Madrid-Barajas Airport with Antonio Lamela.

Opersis has built the interior of one of his most remarkable works in Barcelona: the Shopping and Leisure Center Las Arenas of Barcelonal, where Rogers collaborated as part of the Alonso y Balaguer Arquitectos team.

Zaha Hadid | Baghdad, Iraq, 1950 – 2016

An Iraqi-British architect who was based in London. She graduated in mathematics from the American University of Beirut before studying at the Architectural Association School of Architecture in London. After working for a while at the Office for Metropolitan Architecture, she created her own firm in London in 1979. In the 80s, she taught some classes at the Architectural Association.

She won multiple international contests, but many of her designs were never built because of the complexity of their shapes.
In 2003, she received the European Union Prize for Contemporary Architecture Mies van der Rohe, and in 2004, she became the first woman to win a Pritzker Price, the highest recognition in architecture. Before that, she was appointed to the Order of the British Empire for services to the architecture world.

Among her works, the Rosenthal Center for Contemporary Art in Cincinnati and The Peak in Hong Kong stand out.

Opersis has worked on the interior cladding of one of her outstanding projects: the Expo 2008 Bridge Pavilion in Zaragoza.

Frank Ghery | Toronto, Canada, 1929

He was born in Canada but later became a U.S. citizen. In 1954, he graduated in architecture and afterward studied city planning at the Harvard Graduate School of Design.
After working for several years in Los Angeles and Paris, Gehry opened his architecture firm in Los Angeles. The design quality and volume play stand out in his work. He is one of the contemporary architects that, without losing aspects like building functionality and its integration into the environment, views architecture as a work of art, much like sculpture.
Frank Gehry has received several prestigious awards, like the Pritzker in 1989, the Gold Medal from the American Institute of Architects in 1999, and the Royal Gold Medal from the Royal Institute of British Architects in 2000.

Opersis (in a temporary joint venture between Kooplad and Drywall) handled the construction of the interior spaces of one of his most emblematic projects: The Guggenheim Museum Bilbao.

Richard Meier | | New Jersey, USA, 1934

He studied architecture at Cornell University. After working in multiple architectural firms, he opened his own studio in 1963. Influenced by architects such as Frank Lloyd Wright and Le Corbusier, Meier places great importance on clear lines, harmony, spaces and lighting in his designs. Most of his buildings are white, the color he deems the purest because it compiles all the others and changes shades during the day.
Among others, he received the Pritzker Prize in 1984, and the Gold Medal from the American Institute of Architects in 1997, the highest American recognition.
His many works include the Getty Center in Los Angeles and the Ara Pacis Museum in Rome.

Opersis (Drywall) undertook the interior of one of his major works: Museu d’Art Contemporani de Barcelona (MACBA).
