Our little history

Our History

Opersis was founded in 1999 by Christian Ramírez and Antonio Gallart, who are still the current owners. They have been working together since 1989, and both of them have more than 30 years of experience in the plasterboard sector. They founded a company named Drywall with other partners. In 1997, they abandoned said company to build a division for drywall and gypsum board construction within the Robert Mercader Group, which managed the distribution of building materials. While working for the Mercader Group, with 17 warehouses in Catalonia, they established contact with the construction sector in the global market. This experience lasted almost two years, until the material distributor Saint-Gobain, the oldest multinational in the world, bought the Mercader group.

In 1999, Christian Ramírez and Antonio Gallart had the opportunity to start a new chapter with the foundation of Opersis. Their goal was to establish themselves as a technical company leading in the gypsum board market, a goal they have met and exceeded. Opersis grew gradually, earnestly solidifying its business foundations, and became one of the most capable companies in the European drywall sector.

The Opersis office is situated in a strategic location: Unit number 1 in the Centro de Empresas del Baix Llobregat, in Cornellà de Llobregat. It is a dynamic location, filled with business meetings and young entrepreneurial companies that add value to the communication and exchanges of experiences and knowledge, which is always favorable in any business relationship. This center provides companies like Opersis some flexibility to use various common areas to facilitate the development of their ideas.

Once the company was established, Opersis acquired a warehouse near the office with 1 000 m² of surface area in 2006. It is a shape laboratory, a wide space to experiment with gypsum board, that has allowed Opersis to carry out projects as complex as the one designed by the architect Zaha Hadid for the construction of the Expo 2008 Bridge Pavilion.
